About

Hello lovely people I’m Alice Partington (she/her). I’m a multidisciplinary artist, an activist, intersectional feminist, environmentalist and chronically ill queer woman.

My artistic ethos it to challenge perceptions and to champion self-love. The artwork I create is often about things that womxn, non-binary folks and vulva owners have, and continue to be shamed for.

Currently my artwork particularly focuses on dismantling the stigmas and societal shame around masturbation and periods through my Prioritise Your Pleasure series. Prioritise Your Pleasure was created in response to the orgasm gap, the miss-information and lack of education for people with vulvas. The series of paintings depict colourful and expressive dildos and sex toys, which are often adorned with menstrual blood or lube. The paintings are delicately painted but boldly and unapologetically celebrate masturbation and owning your pleasure. Through this series I wanted to dispel the shame and highlight what a taboo subject this still is for many in discovering their sexuality.

The Vulva Dress is a latex draped wearable vulva sculpture. The wearable sculpture was displayed in my solo exhibition (I Bleed With You, 2018), and was hung via a meat hook to aggressively exemplify the inequality vulva owners still face globally. The Vulva Dress has also been part of my work in normalising talking about periods and celebrating menstruation. By wearing my Vulva Dress and additional period flow sculpture, I strive to create a period positive attitude and dispel the shame and stigma still surrounding menstruation. By sharing this period positive piece, I hope to normalise talking about periods and in turn contribute to ending period poverty.

As an artist I endeavour to create art that is joyful and striking, while also being able to deliver poignant messages about feminism, the state of our world and our relationship with our bodies.

Reason for joining The Vulva Directory

Much of the work I create shares the same values of the Happy Vulva Club. My current 'Prioritise your Pleasure' series seeks to celebrate and educate vulva owners on the pleasure gap and to champion self love. I would love to be part of a collective of creatives and educators that celebrate vulvas, pleasure and acceptance.
